Seattle's Opening Day of Boating Season is May 4th!
The 106th opening day of boating season in Seattle will be on May 4th, 2019. The opening day of boating season is held on the first Saturday of May each spring and is a tradition dating back to 1913!
Seattle Yacht Club will be hosting the events along the Montlake cut and Portage bay.
The pride of this long celebrated tradition among sailors was the Inspiration behind this year's theme "Boating Through The Decades". Everyone attending the events are highly encouraged to join in the community and traditional spirit with fun and creative ideas for the theme. Especially those entering the "Decorated Boats" category. The Montlake cut will be closed to all boat traffic beginning at 9:40 am on Saturday for the Windemere Crew Cup Races followed by the "Parade of Boats" starting at noon and finishing up around 2:30. Events will be taking place the entire week leading up to Opening Day followed by the Mark Mayer Regatta on Sunday. Check the Seattle Yacht Club website often for schedule updates and changes. This also means it's that time of year again. Seattle Diving Services is here for all of your underwater needs, boat and dock inspections, zinc replacements, hull cleanings, item recovery, and anything else below the surface. SDS wishes you all a safe and happy 2019 boating season! More info about opening day here: https://www.seattleyachtclub.org/opening-day
